Mask of the Month: The Iron Oak Special

With Easter on its way, I couldn't help but be inspired by eggs for this month's mask! Eggs are soothing, toning, moisturizing and anti-inflammatory to skin. They leave you with a fresh, toned glow and can even help with pesky under-eye puffiness.

The Iron Oak Special -
not the mask, but the food!
This mask is an oldie, but a goodie, and has likely been around since chickens have been pecking around the Earth. I made mine with an egg from Iron Oak Farm, a hobby farm run by my friend Jennifer. In my opinion, her eggs are, well...eggceptional! We have been known to eat them for dinner around here, scrambled with a side of sauteed fingerling potatoes - The Iron Oak Special! But any egg will make this mask lovely!

Iron Oak Special

1 egg (separate the yolk from the white and save both in separate bowls)
1 t honey
1 t olive oil (optional if you are already an oily skin type)

1. Mix the egg yolk, honey and olive oil in a bowl with a fork.
2. Apply the mask to freshly cleansed skin (its easier using a soft paintbrush), avoiding the eye area.
3. Take a dab of the egg white on your ring finger and lightly pat it around the undereye area, being extra careful not to get it into your eye.
4. Leave both treatments on for 10 minutes, rinse with warm water, pat dry and finish with your favorite toner and moisturizer.
